Manufacturer Description

IGP is a European Union designation which covers the entire province of Tuscany. It is akin to the DOP certification identifying smaller geographic areas. The rules of manufacture stipulate that all the phases of the production cycle must be carried out within the zone. From picking the olives (gathered directly from the trees), through the pressing and bottling, the entire process oil must take place within the region of Tuscany. Olio Extravergine di Oliva Toscano has a maximum acidity of 0.6 percent.

Toscano IGP is produced in the hills of Val d'Orcia near Grosseto. The blend includes olives of the following varieties: Frantoio, Moraiolo, Leccino, Olivastra, and small percentages of other olives. Harvested by hand and pressed using a modern continuous system. The oil is filtered and the color is green with gold reflections.

Medium intensity, with a clear scent of olives, with herbaceous notes of artichoke and ripe fruit, reminiscent of tomato, to a lesser degree.

We recommend its use in soups, vegetables, legumes (beans), bruschetta, pinzimonio (oil, salt, and pepper for dipping fresh vegetables), salads, fish, and roasted meats.

This olive oil was first produced with the 1997 harvest and has since received many awards including: 2008 Los Angeles International Olive Oil Competition, Silver Medal;
1st Place Award Ercole Olivario 2008
2006 L.A. County Fair, Gold Medal
Tuscany's Concorso Ercole Olivario, 2005, 2006
Gourmessa, Zurich 2001

Each bottle is numbered. The Olio Toscano tag provides the information necessary to research the production at the Consorzio site.
