Manufacturer Description

When you choose from Trappey's line of pickled items, you're selecting a brand name with over 100 years of experience. Trappey's is the pickled pepper expert!

Trappey's special cold-packed process guarantees the freshness of peppers and the color-coded covers and labels make it simple for you to choose your preferred hot or moderate pepper!

Trappey's is one of the earliest hot sauce brands in the United States. It is produced by the New Iberia, Louisiana-based company Trappeys Fine Foods, Inc. Trappey's is now had by B&G Foods, a significant food conglomerate. The company produces Red Devil Cayenne Pepper Sauce, Louisiana Hot Sauce, Inda-pep Pepper Sauce, Chef Magic Jalapeño Sauce and pickled jalapenos.

The company was established in 1898, when Louisiana entrepreneur (and previous McIlhenny Company employee) B.F. Trappey started growing tabasco chilies from Avery Island seed. He established the company B.F. Trappey and Sons and, with the help of his ten kids and one child, started producing his own sauce, which he called "Tabasco." The McIlhenny family, makers of Tabasco brand sauce eventually responded to this challenge and a numerous decades-long fight by receiving a trademark for their Tabasco brand in 1906. Afterwards Trappey resorted to the more common "Louisiana Hot Sauce."

Trappey's is a typical Louisiana-style sauce including vinegar, peppers, and salt. The sauce makes use of xanthan gum to smooth out its consistency. Trappey's is visibly milder than a lot of other Louisiana-style sauces.
